Dear Second Grader,
I hope your summer has been a wonderful one so far, filled with great memories! My name is Mrs. Sullivan, and I will be your second grade teacher this year. I am so excited to meet some of you for the first time and to see some familiar faces. I would like to tell you about myself and also answer some questions that you might have about the upcoming year.
This will be my fourth year teaching at Springs School. Some of you may know me from the hallways or when you were in my room for Project Most. I live in Springs with my husband Joseph, our children, Henry, Evan, Lily and our two very rambunctious cats named Gandalf the Grey and Buoy. In my free time I enjoy going to the beach with family, running, cooking and listening to music. Most of all, I absolutely love to read and write! I even keep a writer’s journal, and this year you will too.
On the first day of school, please bring all of your school supplies, labeled with your full name. I have included a classroom supply list and have posted a copy of this list to my web page (www.moniquesullivan.weebly.com). We will spend some time on the first day organizing these materials so that we can get started having fun together and learning. These classroom supplies will be shared with the class so please make sure that you do not bring any items that you feel are personal.
This is going to be a great year! We'll read so many books that I know you will fall in love with. We will learn how to become amazing writers through various writing projects and helpful writing strategies. In second grade you will also learn new math concepts, enjoy science experiments, and learn more about our wonderful state.
Enjoy every bit of your summer and know that I can’t wait to have you in my classroom next year. If you or your parents have any questions before the start of the school year, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or visit our class website.
Mrs. Sullivan ☺
